Merzio pay

Merzio pay is card payments built right into your store's checkout. The shopper enters their card in your checkout, is never redirected anywhere, and sees your store's name on their card statement. Activation, the payments overview, payouts and refunds are all handled in your store admin.

What Merzio pay gives you

  • Payment right at checkout – the card form is part of the checkout, the shopper never leaves your store. At checkout the option is called Card payment.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay – shown as separate payment options on devices that support them.
  • Money to your account – your revenue is paid out to your bank account automatically.
  • One-click refunds – refund the full or a partial amount from the payments overview or from the order detail.
  • Security – 3-D Secure verification; shoppers enter their card details into an encrypted form and they never reach you or Merzio. Payments are processed by a licensed payment institution.
  • No paper contract and no monthly fee – you only pay on successful payments.

Where to find Merzio pay

In the left-hand admin menu, in the Sales section, there is a separate Merzio pay item.

Can't see the item?

Merzio pay is shown only in stores where Merzio has made it available. If you can't see the item, it is not available for your store yet – contact support.

Merzio pay takes payments in your store's currency – euro in Slovakia and Czech koruna in Czechia.

Activation

The whole activation happens online in the admin. Most of the details are prefilled from your store settings.

  1. Open Sales › Merzio pay. You'll see a landing page describing the service, pricing and frequent questions.
  2. Click Activate Merzio pay.
  3. Go through the four wizard steps (below). Move between steps with Save and continue; details you have entered stay saved and you can come back to the activation later.
  4. In the last step, confirm with I agree – submit for verification.

Step 1 – Company details

Choose whether you trade as a Company or a Sole trader / individual, and fill in the business name, company ID, registered address and contact. The details must match the business or trade register.

Under About your store, state what you sell, your store address, a short description of your range and your customer-support contact. Shoppers see these details on their statement and when they have a question about a payment.

Step 2 – Directors and owners

Add:

  • the person who acts for the company and fills in the application,
  • all directors (board members),
  • every owner holding 25 % or more.

One person can have several relationships to the company at once. For each person you fill in their name, date of birth and home address, and upload an identity document (ID card or passport).

Documents

Upload a colour photo or scan with the whole document readable. Supported formats are JPG, PNG or PDF up to 10 MB. Files are sent encrypted straight to verification and are not stored by Merzio.

Step 3 – Payouts

Enter the IBAN of the account we should send your revenue to. The account must be in your company's name, or in yours if you are a sole trader.

Check the summary (company, people, payout account), confirm that you agree to the terms of the service, and submit the details for verification.

Sometimes an extra Identity check with a photo of an ID and a selfie is needed to finish. It takes about 2 minutes and happens right in this step.

Why we need this

Anti-money-laundering law requires everyone who accepts card payments to be verified.

Activation status

After you submit, the Merzio pay page shows a status with four steps:

StepWhat it means
Details sentYou have completed all the wizard steps.
Account verifiedYour company and identity were verified. This usually takes a few minutes, occasionally 1–2 business days.
Approved by MerzioThe Merzio team has reviewed and approved your application. This step is done manually.
On at checkoutYou have switched card payment on and shoppers can see it.

The status updates automatically; you can refresh it any time with Refresh status.

  • If you see We need a few more details, click Finish activation. For each step and person you'll see what needs fixing (for example an unreadable document or details that don't match the register).
  • If the application is rejected, write to us through the support chat and we'll look at it together.

Switching it on at checkout

Once approved, open the Account & settings tab and set the switches under Card payment at checkout:

SwitchWhat it does
Show Merzio pay at checkoutShoppers will see the "Card payment" option.
Show to wholesale (B2B) customers tooOffers card payment to B2B customers as well.

Confirm the changes with Save Settings.

Apple Pay and Google Pay

These options appear only on a device that can pay with them. The store must run on a public domain with a secure connection (HTTPS). Switching one off only hides it – you can switch it back on at any time.

Fees

  • No activation fee and no monthly fee. You only pay on successful payments.
  • Each payment carries the Merzio pay fee, which depends on your plan, and a card processing fee that depends on the card type.
  • Both fees are deducted automatically – the net amount is paid out to you.

You can see the current rates right in the admin: before activation on the Merzio pay landing page under Pricing (rates per plan and processing fees per card type), after activation in the Account & settings tab on the Your fee per payment card.

In the overviews the fees appear as a single line, Card processing fee. In the CSV export the Merzio pay fee and the card processing fee are in separate columns.

Your money

Once approved, the Merzio pay page is split into four tabs.

Overview

  • Ready for payout – money that goes out with the next payout.
  • On the way – paid, waiting to be released for payout.
  • Next payout – when and how much will arrive; for a new store, the date the first money is released.
  • Last 30 days – payments received, fees, refunded amounts, disputes and the amount that is Yours.
  • Latest payments with a link to all payments.

Payments

A list of all card payments with the date, order, customer, card, status, amount, fees and your net amount.

  • Search by order number or the last 4 card digits.
  • Filters: All, Awaiting payout, Paid out, Refunded, Disputed.
  • Export CSV downloads the payments matching the current filter.
  • Click a payment to open its detail – fees, card, the date it is released for payout or the payout it was paid out in, and the Refund button.

Payouts

A list of payouts to your bank account with their status (Being prepared, On its way to the bank, Arrived, Failed, Canceled). The payout detail shows Payments in this payout, so you can easily match it to your orders.

If the bank rejects a payout, check the bank account under Account & settings.

Account & settings

Account status, your fee, the payout bank account (Replace account), company details (Edit details), the checkout switches and Payout frequency.

Payouts and their frequency

In the Account & settings tab, under Payout frequency, choose how often we send your balance to your bank account:

  • Daily
  • Weekly – you pick the Day of the week (Monday to Friday)
  • Monthly – you pick the Day of the month

Payouts for new stores

For the first period after activation payouts are held for a few days; after that they go out as fast as possible. You can see the current state in the Account & settings tab on the Payouts card (for example "Payouts are held for … days for now.") and next to the payout frequency ("Money from a payment is released for payout after … days.").

Refunds

You can refund the customer in full or in part:

  1. Open Merzio pay › Payments and click the payment (or open the order detail).
  2. Click Refund.
  3. Enter the Amount to refund and a reason, and confirm.

The money goes back to the customer's card, usually within 5 to 10 days. The fees for the original payment are not returned.

Disputed payments (chargebacks)

If a customer disputes a payment with their bank:

  • The disputed amount and a dispute fee are taken from your Merzio pay balance. If you win the dispute, the amount comes back.
  • You get an e-mail, and Merzio pay shows the notice The customer disputed this payment with the deadline "Documents needed by …". The payment gets a Disputed badge.
  • Send us the documents (invoice, proof of delivery, messages with the customer) via Write to support – we hand them to the bank for you. The deadline is short, so respond as soon as you can.
  • A disputed payment cannot be refunded with the Refund button – the money has already been taken back and the customer would get it twice.

Dispute statuses: Needs documents, Under review, Won, Lost, Bank warning, Closed.

What you may not sell

You can sell most things. Some categories – for example weapons, gambling or adult content – are not allowed by the payment institution. If you are unsure, write to us before you activate.

FAQ

Is there a paper contract? No. The whole activation happens online in the admin and you confirm the terms in the last step.

When do I get my money? Your revenue is paid out to your bank account automatically, at the payout frequency you chose. For new stores, payouts are held back during the first period.

Can I use another payment gateway alongside Merzio pay? Yes. You switch the other payment methods on in Payment Settings.

My balance is negative. What now? A minus (for example after a refund or a dispute) is covered by the payments still on the way.
