AI Visibility
Path: Admin > Settings > SEO → AI Visibility section
AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini) now recommend products right in their answers. For them to recommend your store, they first have to be allowed to read it. The AI Visibility section in the SEO settings controls this in one place.
Toggles
| Toggle | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Allow AI search & assistant crawlers | On | Assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity may read your store and recommend your products in answers. Covers bots like OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Applebot, Amazonbot, DuckAssistBot. |
| Allow AI training crawlers | On | Allows crawlers that collect data to train AI models (Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, anthropic-ai, CCBot, meta-externalagent, Bytespider). |
| Enable llms.txt | On | Publishes a compact AI-readable overview of your store at /llms.txt. |
| Link product feed in llms.txt | Off | Adds your public product feed URL to llms.txt so AI tools can read your full catalog. Only unprotected feeds are ever linked. |
The toggles are written straight into your robots.txt — allowed bot groups get access, disallowed ones get Disallow: /.
What /llms.txt contains
When enabled, /llms.txt is a short Markdown file that AI tools read easily:
- store name and description,
- up to 30 top-level categories,
- 20 latest products,
- pages and policies (and a blog link if one exists),
- a link to the product feed (only if "Link product feed" is on),
- a link to the sitemap.
Quick links
The section has direct links to the currently generated files: robots.txt, llms.txt and sitemap.xml — handy for a quick check.
AI shopping checklist
On the right is a checklist that walks you through getting into AI assistants' recommendations. Two items tick themselves (green check) once you have the matching feed:
- Create a Google Merchant feed — AI assistants source most recommendations from Google Shopping. (Link: Open feeds.)
- Register your feed in Google Merchant Center.
- Add the same feed to Bing (feeds Microsoft Copilot).
- Create an OpenAI feed and submit your store at
chatgpt.com/merchantswhen the program opens in your region. - Write buying guides and FAQ content — AI assistants cite content-rich shops far more often.
